<body_markdown>This afternoon a couple of my CI/CD pipelines broke because a user deleted all their their public repositories from Github.

I suppose many people are starting to be fed up with all what's going on with big companies stealing our code to train their LLMs, or maybe it's something else... who knows. It's not like we have a single reason to be discontent with Github / Microsoft.

Anyway... I started reviewing all my projects to ensure that I mirror all my critical dependencies so I don't suffer the same problem again.</body_markdown>

I haven often asked my self if there was some sort of failsafe at GitHub where one can reactivate a delete repo by paying money.</body_markdown>

<body_markdown>one of the reasons why i made my own git , and yes I have all private at the moment. I understand the benefits of github, and why people use it, but I love to have my data with me. And also I have trust issues with MS :-)</body_markdown>

<body_markdown>I suppose they would have to change their terms and conditions, as the creator/owner of the IP has the moral & legal rights to stop distributing their own creation...

I'm not sure people would be happy about this kind of change if it were to happen, I'm imagining there would be a PR scandal (pun intended).</body_markdown>
