I suppose many people are starting to be fed up with all what's going on with big companies stealing our code to train their LLMs, or maybe it's something else... who knows. It's not like we have a single reason to be discontent with Github / Microsoft. Anyway... I understand the benefits of github, and why people use it, but I love to have my data with me. I'm not sure people would be happy about this kind of change if it were to happen, I'm imagining there would be a PR scandal (pun intended).
