In light of Microsoft’s #genAI investments & layoffs an interesting development.
I am working a lot with clients on the topic of collaboration between global teams – and certainly this includes persons from multiple organizations.
Microsoft 365 has become some kind of standard for this and for good reasons. But this so called “B2B” or “Guest Collaboration” isn’t straight forward.

#Microsoft bietet bis Anfang Dezember knapp 60.000 Mitarbeitenden in vier Ländern (das entspricht immerhin 27% der Belegschaft weltweit) ein freiwilliges Abfindungspaket an, wenn sie das Unternehmen zum 31.12.2026 verlassen.
Der Grund: #KI ist teurer als gedacht und lässt sich nicht im gewünschten Umfang monetarisieren.

Zwei Beispiele mögen illustrieren, wie Microsoft (MS) Kunden behandelt. Das erste: Zahlende MS365-Kund/inn/en hatten bisher ein Kontingent von bis zu 6 TB (je 1 TB für bis zu 6 Benutzer) Speicherplatz auf OneDrive. Neuerdings müssen sich die bis zu 6 Benutzer in den beiden “kleineren” Abos (Familie oder Premium) 2 TB untereinander aufteilen; Pro-Abonnenten bekommen 5TB für alle. Das nennt man wohl “kundenorientiert” oder so. :-( Ich persönlich würde ja ohnehin niemals wichtige Dinge bei OneDrive ablegen, außer Dateien, die ich bei mir schon sicher verschlüsselt habe. Aber das ist ein anderes Thema.

MS365 + ConnectWise + KI = Katastrophe
MS365 ist alleine schon komplex genug (von Konzeptfehlern und Sicherheitslücken will ich gar nicht erst anfangen). Jetzt flanschen wir ein weiteres komplexes Produkt daran: CloudBackup (früher SkyKick) von der Firma ConnectWise. Heraus kommt ein Monstrum mit vielen versteckten Schwachstellen: Sicherheitslücken, Konzeptfehler, Konfigurationsfehler. Der einzige Schutz dieser weichen Konstruktion bestand bisher darin, dass Angriffe ebenfalls kompliziert und langwierig waren. Dann kam die KI als Brandbeschleuniger.
