A look inside

This is what a vutuv profile looks like

Work experience, education, certificates, languages, links and tags others endorse you for. Anyone can read a profile, entirely without a vutuv account. Unlike LinkedIn, where you hit a login wall in short order.

Try it out: vutuv.de/wintermeyer

A vutuv profile: cover picture, photo, name, tagline and job title, follower counts and the first posts, with contact details and social media profiles in a column on the right.
The same profile further down: tags, each with the number of members who endorse it, and a CV as a timeline of positions with employer and duration.
The lower part of the profile: spoken languages with levels, web links each shown as a preview image with a verification mark, and a panel offering the CV for download.

Your CV, ready to send

What your profile already says becomes a CV. You tick what should go in, then download it as PDF, Word, OpenDocument, LaTeX or JSON Resume. Anonymously as well, if you would rather show what you can do before you show who you are.

Try it out: vutuv.de/wintermeyer/cv

The CV builder: a checklist of everything that could go into the CV, with name, photo, tagline and contact details, and beside it a panel offering the download as PDF, Word, OpenDocument, LaTeX or JSON Resume.
The finished CV ready to print: name, tagline and contact details at the top, below them the positions held with employer and period, and further down the tags and the spoken languages.

Employment reference

What your employment reference really says

Upload your employment references and have them read sentence by sentence: a grade, a traffic light, and the explanation of how a recruiter reads that wording. It takes a few minutes, then the report is there. Nothing becomes public before you release it.

The uploaded employment references, each marked private: one graded 1 (very good) on a green panel, one graded 4 to 5 (poor to unsatisfactory) on a red one, each with a link to its full report.
The review of a single employment reference: the overall grade on a red panel, then a report naming the kind of reference, the grade range, a traffic-light tally of its wordings and the main criticism.

Your reference stays on our servers in Germany. It is analysed right here, on our own hardware: NVIDIA GPU.

The review is a text analysis, not legal advice, and it covers German employment references.

Talking to people

Posts, messages, and the Fediverse along with them

Write a post, react with a heart, a repost or a reply, or message somebody privately. And you are not stuck among vutuv members: vutuv is part of the Fediverse, the union of independent networks that Mastodon belongs to as well. Follow an account over there and its posts arrive in your feed; the other way round, people there can follow you and see your public posts. Both directions, and entirely your choice: at sign-up you decide whether to use vutuv with or without the Fediverse, and you can change that at any time in the settings.

The vutuv feed with the Fediverse tab selected: posts by news accounts on ard.social, mastodon.social and bonn.social, each with the server it came from, and heart, reply and repost counts underneath.
The settings page for followed Fediverse accounts: a field to enter an address like @name@server, and a table of accounts already followed with their server and an unfollow link.

What you get

What vutuv can do

A business network that is free, does not lock your data in, and is yours to run yourself if you want to.

Your profile

  • A CV with positions, education, certificates including proof, spoken languages and tags other members endorse you for.
  • CV download as PDF, Word, OpenDocument, LaTeX or JSON Resume, and you pick what goes in before you download it.
  • A permanent public address, readable without an account and downloadable as a vCard.
  • Employment references: upload them, keep them private, and have the wording read and graded on our own servers.

People, posts, jobs

  • Posts, likes, reposts, replies and 1:1 messages, in real time.
  • A job board with radius search and saved searches that email you when something matches.
  • Organization pages that only exist once somebody has proven control of the organization's domain.

Your independence

  • The Fediverse: let people follow you from Mastodon, and your public posts show up there. You choose at sign-up, and can change it later.
  • Sign in without a password, by emailed PIN, passkey, authenticator app or a printed list of codes.
  • Open source under the MIT license, and you can run your own installation on the internet or in your own intranet.

Leave whenever you like
