Black and white photo showing a 50 foot depression in the ground that has been terraced with rock then turfed to make make circular banks of seating, stepping down to a flat circular area at the bottom, creating an ampitheatre. This is Gwennap Pit where John Wesley preached to audiences of thousands in the 1760s and 1770s.There are two, white painted standing stones on the right of the photo which form a kind of gateway half way down the grassy steps.

There are two, white painted, standing stones towards the back of the photo which form a kind of gateway half way down the grassy steps. Tall trees and houses from the nearby village can be seen along the far edge of the pit.
