A Gothic Crypt In The Forest of Scotland
This enchanting small building is surrounded by a small woodland. The chapel and crypt were built in the mid-1800s. Built out of local sandstone, the building is small but beautiful.
The heavy wooden double doors are studded, in addition to having decorative scrolls and Fleur Di’ Lis metalwork. Above the door is a pointed arch which would have once held stained glass.

A large timber frame supports a collapsing ceiling; it now bears the weight of the stone arch and the roof above.
A small sapling grows from the ground in front of the altar. By some miracle nature has found a way inside and is thriving!

🌈⛪Rainbow chapel! The decay in this abandoned Welsh chapel is quite colourful. This was the first chapel photo I took, way back in 2015 but still one of my favourites.
