Healing Fields Awuku – Therapeutic Counselling
People can be most afraid when they have to deal with change, but with time an individual can adapt. This is a truth I hold close in my practice. As the founder of Healing Fields Awuku, I offer short and long-term therapeutic counselling.
My practice is grounded in the belief that growth is not just about pushing into discomfort, but about creating a safe ‘container’—whether in nature or online—where you can process, reflect, and heal at your own pace.
What I Offer
Walking-Talk Therapy (Lloyd Park, Croydon, South London, Uk)
I specialise in Walking-Talk Therapy, where nature becomes part of the healing. We meet at the Lloyd Park Tram Stop and explore the surrounding woodlands and grasslands within our 60-minute sessions. The environment acts as a co-facilitator, helping to lower defences and allowing thoughts to surface naturally. Note: Sessions require a basic level of mobility. Appropriate clothing for weather conditions is advised.
Online Counselling
For clients who prefer the comfort of their own home, I offer secure, confidential sessions via trusted video platforms. The home can provide the safest ‘container’ for deep therapeutic work, ensuring privacy and psychological safety.
Areas of Support
I work with individuals navigating:
- Anxiety, Depression, Stress
- Bereavement, Grief, Loss
- Fear and Trauma responses
- Estrangement
- Suicidal ideation *
(with a focus on safety and support) *
- Relationship difficulties **
(individual work on interpersonal patterns; not couples counselling) **
My Roots & Approach
Neurodiversity & Inclusivity:
As a neurodivergent practitioner, I bring lived experience alongside professional training. I understand firsthand how different minds navigate the world. I believe there is no single correct way for our brains to operate, and I am committed to creating a space where your unique way of thinking is celebrated, not judged.
Approach:
My approach integrates Western clinical methods with the psychological wisdom of Eastern mindfulness and the deep resilience of my ancestral African roots. I maintain strict professional integrity by adhering to the ethical frameworks of the BACP, and ensuring my approach remains culturally responsive and respectful of your unique background as ethically validated by the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network; BAATN.
The Meaning of “Awuku”
You may wonder why ‘Awuku’ (pronounced Ah-Woo-Koo) is part of my practice’s name.
In the Akan tradition of West Africa, Awuku is deeply connected to the concept of the Divine Messenger—the force that stands at the crossroads, carrying messages between worlds. In a therapeutic context, I do not ask you to adopt any belief system. Instead, I invite you to view Awuku as your Inner Messenger. It is that quiet, intuitive voice within you that knows the truth of your situation, even when your mind is clouded by fear or confusion.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to help you clear the noise so you can hear your own messenger again. Whether through the stillness of nature or the safety of a digital container, together we work to reconnect you with that inner guidance.
Sometimes, the path forward requires a disruption—a shift at the crossroads—to open doors that have been closed.
All journeys begin with a single step—not a leap. You set the pace. I hold the space.
