More efficient every day: #Poppler, the #PDF engine used by #Okular, gets the KDE treatment and can now generate documents with embedded forms that can be more than 10 times smaller thanks to a technique called subsetting. Watch the video to see how this works.

This feature was implemented by Ojas Maheshwari’s during their KDE Google Summer of Code stint.

A video showing a user filling out a PDF form. In one case the user saves the PDF normally, generating a 2.3M file. In the second case, the user saves the PDF using subsetting, generating a file that is only 176K in size.
