Read this edifying interview with Sherman Alexie.
He is one of my favorite authors. I don’t read much fiction, but I’ve read most of his library. I’ve also watched “Smoke Signals,” a film based his book of short stories, “The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.”
In the interview, he talks about referring to himself and other Native Americans as Indians. It’s a few minutes of reading that will forever change your perspective about labels for Native Americans.
