transgender

It’s a known fact that users can’t change their Steam account’s name. But if you’re a trans critter and your Steam account has something based on your deadname as an account name, like I had, that might be distressing to you. Well, I encourage you to write to Steam support about it and ask for your name to be changed because you transitionned and it’s difficult for you to see that previous username because of it.

It’s been documented several times on the internet that they will make exceptions and actually change your account’s name and I can attest, as they did for me. Hell, I even used that as a proof that I have socially transitioned when it came time to change my legal name.

It’s also important to note that no one can see your Steam account’s name aside from you and Steam employees.
