The Norwegian ForbrukerrĂ„det (Consumer Council) is an independent organisation that represents the interests of consumers in Norway. Obsolescence & Circular Economy Polics Obsolescence (planned obsolescence) describes the deliberate shortening of a product’s lifespan by manufacturers in order to boost consumption. This can be achieved through technical, functional or aesthetic measures. The circular economy aims to use resources more efficiently, minimise waste and keep products, materials and components in the economic cycle for as long as possible. Reuse, repair, refurbishment and recycling are intended to create a more sustainable economic system. Policy measures promote: - the durability of products, - ease of repair, - recycling standards, - manufacturer responsibility (e.g. through extended producer responsibility, EPR).
