I’d really love to see a personal note feature on #vutuv. Early Xing had it, Mastodon has it. I don’t use it that often, but it’s a killer feature for social networking. It’s not always easy to remember the exact circumstances how I met and why I link/follow to another account. The personal notes section is really helpful in that regard.

I am open for new ideas but … what do you exactly mean by personal notes? Can you add a screenshot or a description?

Sure. E.g. on Mastodon (Fosstodon), if you visit a user profile page, you can select “Add a personal note (Visible only to you)” option. You can add any text you want.

I made two screenshots to showcase a potential use case. :-)

Agree. And add a centralized view and search function to those. Early Xing also had a “bookmark profile” feature.

vutuv already has a bookmark profile feature.

True. Reduces the demand to “searchable, central list of bookmarks”. Do the bookmarks also work on non-vutuv accounts?

The bookmark overview is already available.

True. Partially done. Gave it a test:

  • If a contact has a note attached to it, the note should be visible in the bookmarked persons overview right below the profile header text that is already visible.

  • Non-Vutuv-Native Profiles can’t be bookmarked, but they can have a note added.

    • I’d expect that anything that has a note added, ends up being searchable in the bookmarks list. Either a tab ‘added notes’ or a put them into the matching category and display their note and for e.g. a non-vutuv person a flag/visible notice that this is a non-Vutuv account.

Done.

Es fehlt an der einen oder anderen Stelle noch etwas UI Feinschliff, aber das reiche ich Stück für Stück nach. Wie immer: Lob, Kritik und weitere Ideen sind immer willkommen.

@tobias_roeser Danke für die Idee!
