I was curious to know why my firefox-based browser told me to update (new popup). I thought of security fixes, but…

  1. It’s a bug with passkey logins to instagram and facebook (and people who use firefox don’t use meta apps, I naively suppose as an artist who is in favour of commons and against big tech, while of course part of this unsustainable economy system and writing from an android device, living in western capitalism).

  2. Cuba timezone data fixed, because of change of daylight saving rule… (but why is it included in a browser, and not part of a systems database?)

This is also political in many ways: US-sanctions against Cuba make heavy amounts of improvisation neccessary. [I have limited knowledge about the actual situation in Cuba and the ruling system]. This article explains the changes happening because of an energy crisis:
timeanddate.com/news/…

The EU had a public vote process about changes to daylight saving time… only 1% of citizens voted, mostly germans, and they were in favour of permanent “summertime”, while the actual “wintertime” (with early darkness in the middle of europe) is the “normaltime” here. There is foreseeable no decision, how to change it, the german/bavarian TV “BR” (my source) also wrote:

br.de/nachrichten/…

I can relate to daylight saving rules as a topic, because I work with light in art & cultural community event contexts, and I don’t easily adapt to the early darkness of “normaltime”.

Enjoying the view on a cycle break! Inspired by the amazing Alar Iko*, I continue my journey of loosening up (a tiny bit) while in the eye of the slopocalypse.

Photo of a hand holding two postcards in front of a green plant. One is showing an illustration of a raven sitting on a pumpkin, with apples, nuts and mushrooms as well as a candle around it, the other a badger with a piece of cake in hand, looking at a bird sitting on it's head.
Only the second postcard, showing a cake with a candle and a red squirrel playing a tiny guitar with a red balloon.

Apparently, my daughter was given an assignment to use generative #AI to create a poster / cover for A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court in her English class. She took offense to this and asked if she could just do the assignment by hand or digitally using one of her #art apps. She was told no. So, my daughter decided to take a stand and not do the assignment. We support her decision completely. Asking someone who lives for creating her own art to use AI and refusing to accept anything else is inexcusable.

Amazing Stories vol. 1, no. 1 (April 1926)

This is completely bizarre and weird but I think what’s most weird is the face of the skater bottom right, like some kind of insanely cheerful monkey. Volume 1, Number 1, they really came out swinging.
