I would like to write postmarketOS documentation on how to port U-Boot to new boards, focusing on mobile devices and their quirks. But, because I do not have personal experience with porting U-Boot, I need help.
Thus, does anybody have experience with porting U-Boot to a new board and would be willing to answer some questions about the process? Bonus points if U-Boot was ported without the board having good mainline Linux support.

Thanks to @AlexLArmstrong on GitHub for providing hacks doing #Libcamera passthru to #Wayland. After that my @glsbank@ruhr.social #WERO app was able to do the transaction!

If you own a Motorola Moto G4 Play (motorola-harpia) and wish to see it back in postmarketOS, please consider testing gitlab.postmarketos.org/postmarketOS/β¦ .
Iβll get to testing it eventually, but I am a bit busy right now. I doubt it doesnβt work, as it was only archived for being unmaintained, but it still obviously needs testing.
The harpia is one of, if not the cheapest mainline device that is well-supported (you can get it for ~15 USD if you are lucky).
Has anyone made a child friendly device using #postmarketos ? Ie: no login process, only shows a limited number of curated apps, ideally can only go from showing app menu to one of the apps and back.
The #Phosh interface and experience looks more complicated than I was hoping for.
While the Taifun #25 is passing by, I took the afternoon and got USB-C host mode to work on the sdm845-hdk with a 7.2 kernel on #postmarketOS and gnome-desktop

So you added a user account to your linux (mobile) for any reason? That account will never be used to login to #Linux?
Well, it will show up on your login screen unless you picked an uid from the range of system accounts.
On #Mobian and #postmarketOS the login screen is presented by the greeter run from greetd. For #Phosh the greeter is #Phrog. The user accounts to show on the login screen are requested from #AccountsServices.
One way to get rid of an user account on the login screen is to mark it as a system account: USER=<username>; echo -e β[User]\nSystemAccount=trueβ | sudo tee /var/lib/AccountsService/users/$USER; sudo chmod 600 /var/lib/AccountsService/users/$USER

#PostmarketOS allows to have multiple users. If automatic login is disabled on start a login screen is shown presented by #greetd typically running as the system user greetd.
greetd is logged in automatically to do its magic and systemd starts all the configured user services for that user.
#udiskie is integrated as such a service and mounts all removable media to /run/media/greetd - on my #Shift6mq the sdcard.
After logging in the greetd user session is logout out and the new session for the authenticated user is started. udiskie for the greetd session is stopped leaving the sdcard mounted to the path for greetd.
udiskie starts for the authenticated user, but does not mount the removable media, because it is already mounted for the former logged in greetd.
No music in #gapless π€·
An easy way around this is to change the service file for udiskie to the new version from the example directory of udiskies repository by copying it to /etc/systemd/user/.
Once systemd picked up the changes udiskie will not be started for system users anymore and systemd will run udiskie-umount after stopping the service on user logout.
Now one UserA can logout and UserB can use the same sdcard if file permissions allow.
Is anyone coming to the #postmarketOS conference with a fairphone 6 that I could hack on for a few hours? I would like to try and debug this issue so we can get #duranium working on the fp6, but I donβt own one of these π
I would need to install pmOS on it, which means reflashing (so donβt volunteer if you rely on your device for anything π )
been really enjoying tinkering with #postmarketos recently, so it has inspired me to make this fun little design. canβt bring myself to finish the entire thing though O_o
