“Just ask if you want to know something.”

Sounds transparent. Often isn’t. One of the most interesting insights from our latest 3 Thinkers 1 Goal conversation was that many organizations confuse access with transparency. People can only ask questions about topics they know exist. If information remains hidden, the invitation to ask becomes largely symbolic. At the same time, the opposite extreme is not the answer either. Flooding employees with reports, messages, and dashboards does not create understanding. It often creates uncertainty.

In our discussion, Carsten, Günter and I explore why successful organizations are shifting from push-based information distribution to pull-based knowledge environments, where relevant information is discoverable, contextualized, and accessible when needed. This becomes even more important as AI assistants like Microsoft Copilot increasingly depend on well-structured and accessible organizational knowledge. Transparency is not about sharing everything. It is about making the right information findable, understandable, and useful.

Where do you see the biggest challenge today: lack of transparency or information overload?
