Getting push notifications with the #FDroid app can be a deal breaker. I will work to make everything smooth in the next release by hosting my own NTFY instance and simplifying the process with #Fedilab, even making it transparent.

My favorite Mastodon app, Fedilab, is no longer on Google Play, but you can still get it from F-Droid.
You can import your old settings, too. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes. I’m not an experienced F-Droid user, but everything went smoothly…
Thanks for the great work! @apps@toot.fedilab.app
Did you know that to be available on Google, I had to:
- Remove donation links
- Hard-coded censorship
- Create a dedicated account so they can log into it
I am really upset by this difference in strictness, where I am stuck.
This cost a lot of energy because they made everything simple for the end user but not for the devs.
All these actions are not for protecting you, it’s for controlling you.

I only keep my Google dev account for #Fedilab.
You can also get it through #FDroid or the APKs I publish.
If you use fdroid.fedilab.app you get updates immediately.
Should I keep publishing Google releases?
• Yes, it matters
• No, it is easy to get elsewhere
• No opinion
#FDroid and Basic 2.0-rc1 are live:
- Donation section enhancements 😉 #Taler

- Fix install service getting sticky
- Separate TV banners (again)
- Fix crash related to Nearby

All Basic users are getting updated now.
Full users, allow beta or manual update, for now.
If you’re tired of using proprietary software and devices to cast media to your TV, did you know there is an open source protocol called #FCast?
#CastLab, an app that I maintain, works with this protocol. It is only available on #FDroid: f-droid.org/packages/…
More about FCast: fcast.org
Don’t hesitate to take back control. The app also works with #Kodi and any other device supporting #DLNA.
This week in #FDroid (TWIF) has been live:
- #ArcaneChat (fixed by now)
- #AuroraDroid is back
- #GadgetBridge + #Comaps = ❤️ (GB doppelganger will be fixed soon)
- #LocalSend got fatter but faster
- #Joplin version fixup
- #PravApp #XMPP fights solo (as #Quicksy is gone)
- #Lichess has a lot to talk about

/PS: F-Droid Basic 2.0-rc0 is now suggested. Have fun! 😉
#Conversations_im remains free of charge today and tomorrow (Tuesday) on Google Play.
If you want to migrate away from one of its forks, now would be a good opportunity. Likewise, if you have friends or family members who don’t know about #FDroid, now is a great time to recommend Conversations to them.
