matrix

I`m happy to be speaking at #Matrixconf in 🇸🇪 #Malmo this week.

Can open protocols communities learn from each other? For sure!

I will talk about political demands from a perspective of advocating for open protocols based social networks in 🇪🇺 . And why we build the alliance @offene_netzwerke@eupolicy.social

With this talk I want to build bridges within our habitat of open protocols communities ✨

Thanks for having me @matrix@mastodon.matrix.org

@laurenshof@indieweb.social displays nice vizualisation about his understanding of the #opensocialweb ecosystem which includes #Activitypub #ATproto and #Matrix

that was just an intermediate step, nine.testrun.org was offered as a stable relay, choosing randomly could end up in using a poorly maintained relay that got abandoned and then you or your family would be left like “Delta Chat doesn’t work anymore”

anyways, good news! finally since the release 2.62.0 nine.testrun.org is no longer the hard-coded relay! now 3 random relays are chosen and used! so if one goes down the others will be used without ending up with a dead relay, and further improvements will come in this area, as replacing relays that stopped working automatically, learning new relays from the ones used by your peers etc.

so in fact Delta Chat right now is at the peak of #decentralization, way above #Matrix, #XMPP, #Mastodon and any other decentralized platform, because it is not only decentralized but it is “multi-homing”, in other decentralized platforms if your server dies your profile is lost and you have to start all over, in #DeltaChat you can have several home servers at the same time and even replace them on the fly while keeping all your chats, contacts, messages, groups, channels, etc. your profile lives in your devices, not in any server

Kommt vorbei! Ihr erkennt uns wahrscheinlich an unserem riesigen Plüsch-Pinguin.

Unterstützt werden wir wieder mal von @piratensachsen@dresden.network @piranhas@piraten-partei.social @npug@don.linxx.net @datenpunks@dresden.network @azubisgegenrechts@dresden.network#Dresden #dut #xmpp #matrix #linux #treffen #watchparty #diday

With Google closing down the #Android ecosystem more and more, I think there is a lesson to be learned about relying on something that is technically open source but largely controlled by a single company. That’s why I would be very careful building something on top of #Matrix.
