📢 A few updates from the last couple of days:

🗓️ Scheduled posts now show up in Mastodon apps too – a bug meant posts published via “Schedule post” were visible on bizzfed.de but never appeared in Tusky, FediSuite & co. A number of older scheduled posts were affected too and have been retroactively fixed.

#️⃣ Hashtag autocomplete in the composer – type “#” and get suggestions, just like “@” mentions already had.

🗑️ Deleting via third-party apps now actually works – a post deleted through Tusky/FediSuite used to stay visible forever on other instances, because the deletion was never announced to the Fediverse. Fixed.

📢 Kleines Update aus den letzten Tagen:

🗓️ Geplante Beiträge erscheinen jetzt auch in Mastodon-Apps – ein Bug sorgte dafür, dass über “Beiträge planen” veröffentlichte Posts zwar auf bizzfed.de sichtbar waren, aber nie in Tusky, FediSuite & Co. auftauchten. Auch einige ältere geplante Beiträge waren betroffen und wurden rückwirkend korrigiert.

#️⃣ Hashtag-Autocomplete im Composer – tippt “#” und bekommt Vorschläge, genau wie bei “@”-Erwähnungen.

🗑️ Löschen über Drittanbieter-Apps funktioniert jetzt richtig – ein über Tusky/FediSuite gelöschter Post blieb auf anderen Instanzen bisher für immer sichtbar, weil die Löschung nie ans Fediverse weitergemeldet wurde. Ist behoben.

Update: DeltaChat support, accessibility & people search

💬 DeltaChat as a contact option — New option in contact details; invite links now open directly instead of being wrongly linked as email.

♿ Accessibility improvements — The “Open to Work”/“Open to Projects” toggles on your profile and the mention suggestions in the composer now give screen readers proper feedback.

🌐 Default post language — New setting under “Compose posts”, helpful for Mastodon apps like Mona or Phanpy that couldn’t set a language before.

🔙 “Explore” now remembers your scroll position — Going back no longer jumps to the top, just like the feed already did.

👤 Contact person for job listings — New optional field that links to a real profile instead of free text.

🔍 Improved people search — now also matches by handle and ignores accents (e.g. “rene” instead of “René”).

Update: DeltaChat-Support, Barrierefreiheit & Personensuche

💬 DeltaChat als Kontaktoption — Neu in den Kontaktdaten wählbar, Einladungslinks öffnen sich jetzt direkt statt fälschlich als E-Mail-Link.

♿ Barrierefreiheit verbessert — Die Schalter für “Open to Work”/“Open to Projects” im Profil und die Mention-Vorschläge im Composer geben Screenreadern jetzt korrektes Feedback.

🌐 Standardsprache für Beiträge — Neue Einstellung unter “Beiträge verfassen”, hilfreich für Mastodon-Apps wie Mona oder Phanpy, die bisher keine Sprache mitschicken konnten.

🔙 “Entdecken” merkt sich jetzt die Scroll-Position — Zurück-Navigation springt nicht mehr zum Anfang, genau wie im Feed.

👤 Ansprechpartner:in bei Stellenanzeigen — Optionales neues Feld, verlinkt auf ein echtes Profil statt Freitext.

🔍 Personensuche verbessert — findet jetzt auch über den Handle und ignoriert Akzente (z. B. “rene” statt “René”).

Update: Fixed federated videos, better quoting + smaller improvements

🎥 Videos from federated posts play again — A security header was incorrectly blocking videos from other Fediverse instances. Fixed.

🔁 Quoting now works from Mastodon apps too — Posting through apps like Tusky or Ivory now supports quoting, just like the native BizzFed web app.

🔍 Search now finds post links too — Paste a BizzFed or Fediverse post link into search and the matching post shows up, not just profiles.

🔗 Link previews show titles correctly again — Special characters like en dashes used to show up as raw HTML codes instead of the actual character.

🎓 ORCID field now recognizes pasted links — Copy your ORCID straight from orcid.org and the URL gets automatically trimmed down to the bare ID.

Update: Videos aus dem Fediverse repariert, besseres Zitieren + kleinere Verbesserungen

🎥 Videos aus föderierten Beiträgen spielen wieder ab — Ein Sicherheits-Header hat Videos aus anderen Fediverse-Instanzen fälschlich blockiert. Behoben.

🔁 Zitieren funktioniert jetzt auch über Mastodon-Apps — Wer über Apps wie Tusky oder Ivory postet, kann jetzt genauso zitieren wie im nativen BizzFed-Web.

🔍 Suche findet jetzt auch Beitrags-Links — Einen BizzFed- oder Fediverse-Beitragslink in die Suche eingefügt, und der passende Beitrag taucht auf, nicht nur Profile.

🔗 Link-Vorschauen zeigen Titel jetzt korrekt — Sonderzeichen wie Gedankenstriche wurden vorher als HTML-Code angezeigt statt als Zeichen.

🎓 ORCID-Feld erkennt eingefügte Links automatisch — Kopierst du deine ORCID direkt von orcid.org, wird die URL jetzt automatisch auf die reine ID gekürzt.

Update: New notification options, DM editing + better Mastodon app compatibility

🔔 Bell for individual accounts — On the profile of someone you follow, there’s now a bell button. Turn it on and you’ll get a dedicated notification whenever they post.

✏️ Edit sent messages — Direct messages can now be corrected after sending via a pencil icon, with an “edited” indicator.

🔕 Mute contact lists — Hide a whole list’s members’ posts from your main feed while keeping them visible when you view that list directly.

🖼️ Place images exactly where you want them — A new button in the formatting toolbar inserts an uploaded image right at your cursor position instead of just appending it below as an attachment.

⬅️ “Back” remembers your feed position — The Feed nav button no longer jumps to the top after you open a post — it returns you to where you were.

🌐 Browser-based Mastodon clients now fully work — Web apps like Elk or Phanpy could log in but not reply or post. Fixed.

Update: Neue Benachrichtigungsoptionen, DMs bearbeiten + bessere Mastodon-App-Kompatibilität

🔔 Glocke für einzelne Accounts — Auf dem Profil eines Accounts, dem du folgst, gibt’s jetzt einen Glocken-Button. Aktivieren, und du bekommst eine eigene Benachrichtigung, sobald der Account etwas veröffentlicht.

✏️ Nachrichten nachträglich bearbeiten — Gesendete Direktnachrichten lassen sich jetzt per Stift-Symbol korrigieren, inklusive “bearbeitet”-Hinweis.

🔕 Kontaktlisten stummschalten — Beiträge der Mitglieder einer Liste verschwinden auf Wunsch aus dem Hauptfeed, bleiben aber sichtbar, wenn du dir die Liste gezielt ansiehst.

🖼️ Bilder gezielt im Text platzieren — Neuer Button in der Formatierungsleiste fügt ein hochgeladenes Bild genau an der Cursor-Position ein, statt nur als Anhang unten dranzuhängen.

⬅️ “Zurück” merkt sich deine Position im Feed — Der Feed-Button in der Navigation springt nach einem Beitrag nicht mehr an den Anfang, sondern zurück an die Stelle, wo du warst.

🌐 Mastodon-Web-Clients funktionieren jetzt vollständig — Browserbasierte Mastodon-Apps (Elk, Phanpy & Co.) konnten bisher nicht antworten oder posten, obwohl der Login klappte. Behoben.

Update: Faster load times, more reliable filters + Mastodon app fixes

⚡ Noticeably faster load times — The feed and other pages were sometimes slow because the database was missing key indexes. Everything now runs smoothly and consistently fast.

🔄 “People you may know” now changes — Previously the same 5 suggestions kept showing up every time; now you get a different selection from your extended network on every feed load.

🏷️ Hashtags stand out — When a hashtag in your post matches a group’s topics, it’s now visually highlighted instead of rendered as a plain link.

🧭 More reliable group filter — It was barely readable in dark mode, and it sometimes stayed stuck “active” after navigating away without showing it. Both fixed.

📱 Better Mastodon app compatibility — Your poll vote status now shows up correctly in the local/federated timeline, search, bookmarks, and profiles too (previously only in the home feed).

Update: Schnellere Ladezeiten, zuverlässigere Filter + Mastodon-App-Fixes

⚡ Deutlich schnellere Ladezeiten — Der Feed und andere Seiten luden teils spürbar langsam, weil der Datenbank wichtige Indizes fehlten. Jetzt läuft alles durchgehend flott.

🔄 “Leute, die du kennen könntest” wechselt jetzt — Vorher wurden immer dieselben 5 Vorschläge angezeigt, jetzt gibt’s bei jedem Feed-Aufruf eine andere Auswahl aus deinem erweiterten Netzwerk.

🏷️ Hashtags heben sich hervor — Wenn ein Hashtag in deinem Beitrag zu den Themen einer Gruppe gehört, wird er jetzt farblich hervorgehoben statt wie ein normaler Link dargestellt.

🧭 Gruppen-Filter zuverlässiger — Im Dark Mode war er kaum lesbar, außerdem blieb er nach der Navigation manchmal fälschlich “aktiv” hängen, ohne das noch anzuzeigen. Beides behoben.

📱 Bessere Mastodon-App-Kompatibilität — Dein Umfrage-Abstimmungsstatus wird jetzt auch in der lokalen/föderierten Zeitleiste, der Suche, den Lesezeichen und auf Profilen korrekt angezeigt (vorher nur im Home-Feed).

Update: Quoting everywhere, better Mastodon app compatibility + polish

🔁 Quoting now available everywhere — The quote button used to only exist in the home feed, now it’s also in profiles, thread views, groups and hashtag search results.

📱 Better app compatibility — If you use BizzFed through Tusky or another Mastodon app, you can now edit your profile (including avatar/header) and quotes show up with proper context instead of as a standalone post.

🌐 Federation polish — Bullet lists and video attachments from other instances now render correctly instead of as run-on text or not at all.

🐛 Small fixes — The feed now refreshes reliably when switching between views, plus a couple of smaller text and calculation bugs fixed.

Update: Zitieren überall verfügbar, bessere Mastodon-App-Kompatibilität + Feinschliff

🔁 Zitieren jetzt überall verfügbar — Der Zitieren-Button gab es bisher nur im Feed, jetzt auch im Profil, in Thread-Ansichten, in Gruppen und bei der Hashtag-Suche.

📱 Bessere App-Kompatibilität — Wer BizzFed über Tusky oder eine andere Mastodon-App nutzt, kann jetzt das Profil bearbeiten (inkl. Avatar/Titelbild) und sieht Zitate korrekt mit Kontext statt als eigenständigen Beitrag.

🌐 Föderation poliert — Aufzählungslisten und Video-Anhänge aus anderen Instanzen werden jetzt korrekt dargestellt statt als Fließtext bzw. gar nicht.

🐛 Kleinere Fixes — Der Feed aktualisiert sich jetzt zuverlässiger beim Wechseln zwischen Ansichten, ein paar kleinere Text- und Berechnungsfehler behoben.

🐛 Small fixes: some posts got cut off without a “Read more” button, and the mute menu on profiles sometimes ran off screen on narrow viewports. Both fixed.

Es zeigt, dass mit dem ActivityPub-Protokoll noch viel mehr zu machen ist, als X durch Mastodon zu ersetzen.

Der heutige digitale Unabhängigkeitstag bietet für professionelle Netzwerker:innen eine gute Gelegenheit, sich dort anzumelden und zu starten. 🛸

Wir sehen die Probleme, die sich aufgrund der starken KI-Orientierung des Projekts ergeben.
Dennoch: der Code ist open-source und der Dienst erlaubt eine Föderierung mit dem Fediverse.
Wir hoffen darauf, dass die mit der KI-Basis des Projekts verbundenen Probleme in Zukunft vom Entwickler und der Community gelöst werden.

📝 Preview function: Before publishing a post, reply, or group post, you can now switch between “Write” and “Preview” tabs and see exactly how it’ll look (Markdown, images, poll, content warning).

🔌 More reliable Mastodon apps: Posting through tools like Tusky, Buffer & co. sometimes silently dropped image uploads, crashed hard on invalid reply IDs, and skipped link previews. All fixed — including Tusky’s “Trending posts” tab, which used to show an error.

♿ Accessibility: Based on community feedback, icons are bigger app-wide, missing tooltips added, input field text is larger, contrast improved (search field, reply button in dark mode), and the ALT text field for image descriptions is now multi-line.

👥 Smaller improvements: group name now shows in join notifications, federated replies in groups show the right context, follower lists show the instance for federated accounts.

📝 Vorschau-Funktion: Bevor du einen Beitrag, eine Antwort oder einen Gruppen-Beitrag abschickst, kannst du jetzt per Tab zwischen “Schreiben” und “Vorschau” wechseln und siehst genau, wie er später aussieht (Markdown, Bilder, Umfrage, Content-Warnung).

🔌 Mastodon-Apps zuverlässiger: Beim Posten über Tools wie Tusky, Buffer & Co. wurden Bild-Uploads teils stillschweigend verworfen, ungültige Antwort-IDs krachten hart, und Linkvorschauen fehlten. Alles behoben — inklusive Tuskys “Angesagte Beiträge”-Tab, der vorher einen Fehler zeigte.

♿ Barrierefreiheit: Auf Rückmeldung aus der Community Icons app-weit vergrößert, fehlende Tooltips ergänzt, Text in Eingabefeldern größer, Kontraste verbessert (u.a. Sucheingabefeld, Antworten-Button im Dunkelmodus) und das ALT-Text-Feld für Bildbeschreibungen ist jetzt mehrzeilig.

👥 Kleinere Verbesserungen: Gruppenname erscheint jetzt in Beitritts-Benachrichtigungen, föderierte Antworten in Gruppen zeigen den richtigen Kontext, Follower-Listen zeigen die Instanz bei föderierten Accounts.

🏷️ Group tags: groups can now have (hash)tags. The groups overview shows a “Popular tags” row you can click, and search now matches tags too.

📜 Certificates and training entries on your profile can now be reordered by drag and drop, just like work experience and education already could.

🔌 Connected apps: a new Settings section shows every app with access to your account (Tusky, Mastodon clients, etc.). Each one can be revoked individually.

🧭 Profile tabs now remember which one was open. Going back from a post lands you where you were instead of always resetting to the profile tab.

👥 Group member list: several layout fixes, including long names without spaces and the moderator view.

🔁 Federated replies inside groups now correctly show “In reply to …” instead of looking like a stray new topic. Signing in through Mastodon apps is also more reliable: following no longer gets stuck on “pending” forever.
