“Tonight, the city of Westbrook voted to ban standalone data centers.
“The ordinance prohibits larger centers, while still allowing smaller ones, such as a server room at a business.
“Before tonight’s vote, Westbrook Mayor David Morse shared his support for the ban, citing concerns around #environmental and infrastructure burdens a data center could create.
“The city council’s vote on the ordinance was unanimous.”
