Pixelfed is now using AI, and I’m stopping recommending Pixelfed to anyone.
Bezeichnend für den Stand der Debatte, wenn man als KI-Sicherheitsforscher betonen muss, kein „Al Doomer” zu sein, bevor man über die eigene Forschung zu den aktuellen Risiken sprechen kann.
Entsprechend sind auch die Kommentare unter meinem Text, der gerade Aufmacher bei der Zeit ist: mein Eindruck ist, dass überhaupt keine differenzierte Debatte mehr möglich ist, denn man wird sofort in eine Schublade gesteckt.

Es lebe die Ki von Google. Nicht. Ich brauchte Hilfe beim Namen einer Person gestern auf dem roten Teppich vor der Kölner Oper.
Analysiert wurde ein Foto, gerade eben erst nach Wikimedia Commons hochgeladen. Google lag richtig bei:
- der gesuchten Person rechts.

Microsoft beerdigt Copilot+
Heise berichtet:
Neue PCs bekommen kein Copilot+-Label mehr. Sogar Microsoft selbst bewirbt seine Surface-Geräte nicht mehr entsprechend.
Das ist gut so. Ich empfand das Label immer als Mogelpackung. Es suggerierte, dass diese PCs Copilot lokal ausführen können. Und das können sie nicht, wie man in Zügen der deutschen Bahn leicht testen kann. 😊

Nice talk yesterday by Tobias Osborne from Hannover at @MPI_Magdeburg@mastodon.social.
He’s a theoretical physicist, so he is also doing a lot of math and he turned from AI sceptic to daily user (a bit like me). The discussion after the talk was 2h.
He talked about coding agents and how they mitigate most of the problems that LLMs have. I agree with his general sentiment that any researcher must at least know what a coding agent is and what it can do.

It’s hard to understand what this means. Everything is so slick and a bit meaningless. Maybe they used AI to write their statement?
“Importantly, the group will not be responsible for advising us on how to pace our internal progress on mathematics.” 🤔
Sounds to me like: “OK, we will solve your problems in any case, if you don’t want to hear the solutions we will just keep quiet.”
So they produced 100 new theoremoids spending a couple millions of dollars and now they are asking us if we want to hear them?
And then what “we” do is to set up a Google Form in which mathematicians can say how they think the 100 new results should be disseminated ?
