The @gcompris@mastodon.social team has released version 26.2.
KDE’s suite of #educational activities for #children is now available in 28 languages, and partially translated to 19 more. GCompris comes with more than 100 activities and games that cover a wide range of subjects. GCompris works on Linux, Windows, macOS and Android.
Smuggled myself into BIGGICon last night. Well, smuggled is a strong word, given I was invited, but had not registered because I didn’t think I could go.
…what’s BIGGICon? Time for a brief history lesson: the PhD scheme I did was called IGGI and I was part of the first cohort, 12 years ago. IGGI (Intelligent Games and Games Intelligence) is now almost done. Over. Last cohort was onboarded 3 years ago (all planned, by design and funding). IGGICon was a yearly event showcasing the students, their work, and the industry partners. BIGGICon is just the last and biggest IGGICon.
While academia as a whole left a sour taste in my mouth, despite an amazing supervisor and a topic I really loved, the people in IGGI are amazing. And the people supporting the students from industry.
So next time you see someone boasting an IGGI doctorate or experience, they’re likely amazing and you should hire them / give them your undivided attention / donate all your wordly possessions to them.
Oh, and I’ve been told The Chinese Room has some amazing announcements soon (TM). Looking really forward to that.

This guy asked Claude Code to take his 1993 Amiga 500 assembler code and convert it into today’s world. And it is hard to say if that is the most interesting part of this story or how he initially built the game in Baghdad with nothing more than an Amiga manual. babyloniantwins.com/blog/…

Guten Morgen! ☕️ Kleine Erinnerung: Der Ladebildschirm in Spielen war früher pure Angst (Blitzscreen bei der PS1, jemand?), heute ist er ein eigenes Kunstwerk mit Lore-Häppchen und Gameplay-Tipps.
Manche Studios erzählen mittlerweile ganze Nebengeschichten NUR in Ladescreens. Kleines Detail, großes Handwerk.
