Very often during my talks I mention them being role models making the change happen. Step by step, moving away from closed source. I love to see the passion for #digitalsovereignty which they all have.

Together with @Gina@fosstodon.org & @ldubost@framapiaf.org we had the privilege of chatting with them at the #sccon26. Fingers crossed for the #foss revolution in #SchleswigHolstein

Dutch bank ABN Amro (one of the big 3) is at risk of being hit by US sanctions, because of services it provides to the ICC.

Worst case scenario ABN AMRO would be excluded from the international banking system, which would be the “corporate death penalty” and has already caused another bank, the Amsterdam Trade Bank, to go under.

Today the @NRC@nrc.social reports that the Dutch police confiscated a server allegedly used by the Italian antifascist network #autisticiinventati

The Dutch police acted upon a request from the US government.

The server was hosted in a data center right next to our university building.

It is hard to overestimate the political significance of this intervention.

#DigitalSovereignty was never more important.

Amsterdam police seized a server belonging to Autistici/Inventati (A/I) from a data center at Amsterdam Science Park, acting on a US legal assistance request. Police digital experts are making an image of the drive, which goes straight to the US.

A/I spent 25 years providing free web hosting and email to about 20,000 left-wing and anti-capitalist groups. In August the US branded it a terrorist organization.

Mind you, there are other good reasons to dump Microsoft Teams. I’m not a fan. For my sins I have to use it and every other groupware program out there. And, I might add, I’ve been using them since Lotus Notes rolled out the door in 1990.

Digital sovereignty isn’t just a good idea. It’s essential. Or, as an EC July staff memo put it: “In practice, this means having greater control over our data and systems so that we can reduce risks and limit disruption to our work, wherever possible.” Exactly so.

Anja vom Frauenhaus Kiel und @dirkschroedter@norden.social haben diese Woche den Finanzierungsvertrag für Flora, einer neuen datenschutzfreundlichen Verwaltungsapp für Frauenhäuser, unterschrieben. Dank des Landesprogramms Offene Innovation vom @digitalhubsh@social.schleswig-holstein.de kann ich mich nun ein Jahr voll und ganz auf die Entwicklung konzentrieren. Ich freu mich drauf und werde euch auf dem Laufenden halten!

Sweden is also choosing @forgejo@floss.social for their digitally sovereign government codeplatform, just like the Dutch code.overheid.nl 🥳🥳

This is a nice step towards less dependence on US big tech, aka Github.

In my last days at the @BZKopensource@social.overheid.nl I hope to set up a working group with other EU governments, to work towards a federated network of codeplatforms 🇪🇺

I am reading the #KIDSAct and oh my is it bad. It is so dumb I have no words. And if adopted as proposed, it will have devastating effects for the #Fediverse and #FOSS app distribution. (Conveniently, the Commission exempted its own #Mastodon server from the Regulation’s scope.)

In particular, it will undo anything good the #DigitalMarketsAct might have achieved there. And it definitely contradicts much of the @EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu’s own brand new open source strategy for more #DigitalSovereignty.
