One can argue that using those questionably ethical technologies is just that, ethically questionable. I would very much agree.
And yet… We’ve had the internet for a good 35 years now, things haven’t exactly improved, see also the webAIM Million. See also #Foss project after #floss project with absolutely zero regard for #accessibility until it’s way too late.
Ethically questionable, sure, but I can not in good conscience blame anyone who’s waited half their life to finally see things improve only to be disappointed taking things into their own hands.
Switch away from big tech? People can’t. Pick up any old alternative when a tool of choice funds the far right? People can’t.
Stop funding the billionaires? People very well might not be able to.
And that lovely bit of entrapment was all human-wrought. No AI, or i’m sorry, AL, required.
This is the world we live in, and these are the hands we’re given. Don’t like it? Send a PR and fix it.

Thanks to our Outreachy intern Malika, in GNOME 51, Document Viewer now supports visual signatures, useful for quickly signing paperwork! You don’t need any special hardware or certificates, just draw your signature, or you can import one.
Malika gave a talk on GUADEC about this feature, if you’re curious! 👉️ tube.kockatoo.org/w/…

Plushtodon wants you all to be libre.
Kdenlive just got a new timeline for keyframes, and it comes with a bonus performance boost!
— Autoren, Journalisten, Redakteur, Lektor, Ghostwriter,
— Webdesigner (HTML-/CSS-/JS-sattelfest),
— Graphiker,
— Audio- und Video-Editor,
— Content-Creator,
— Podcaster,
— Sounddesigner oder
— Musiker,

Already counted in the numbers above.
So… I was working on preparing forge.cloudsling.dev to open to the public, to start hosting #FLOSS projects for free, away from Github and other tech overlords…
Well, it will take some more time than I wanted. Our services have been down for around 1h because of a bots avalanche that have been scrapping all they could.
Now, the “attack” continues:
CPU usage above 80% of total capacity.
Outbound traffic at 3MiBps… when we only have 15 registered users, and only me is looser enough to be touching that on a weekend.
Shutting down the servers for the rest of this weekend… 💔
